Texture and material construction: The Aurora Borealis Glass Butt Plug by Crystal Delights is an exquisite sex toy made with a Swarovski Crystal in the base. The glass itself is very smooth and crystal clear. In design, it looks like a standard plug: bulbous head, thinner neck, wide base. The head on this plug is a customary tear drop shape. However, at 1.4 inches in diameter, the bulb is relatively small. Furthermore, I found that the length of the actual bulb was shorter than that other plugs I’ve seen. On the one hand the shorter length is positive because it goes in more quickly, but on the other it also means you have less time to adjust to the increasing size if you haven’t done a lot of warm up. The neck of this plug is very thin. I usually like the neck of my plugs to be a bit thicker so there is more to squeeze around; however, what the neck lacks in girth it makes up for in length. Because the bulb on this plug is so short there is extra length in the neck. I didn’t think that would make a difference but, combined with the shorter bulb, it made the plugs internal positioning far more comfortable. The base of the toy is where this plug really shines though.

Like other plugs it has a round, smooth base wide enough to prevent the plug from getting lost in the rectum. However, unlike some other plugs, directly in the center it has a crystal that reflects a kaleidoscopic of colors: blues, greens, pinks, purples…It is absolutely stunning. The whole plug seems to be very well made; though, there are places along the edge of the crystal where I can get my nail under it. I suspect this is because the crystal itself is not perfectly flat due to the way it has to be shaped in order to refract the light. Regardless though, I have no fears that the crystal will become dislodged. The places that are flat along the base of the plug are sealed very well. That crystal isn’t going anywhere.

Now, in reference to cleaning and storage, it cleans up beautifully with soap and water, and comes with its own bag. It’s a lightly padded black pouch with a flower pattern. You place the plug in the pouch and then you roll it closed, placing the two elastic bands around the ends to secure it. It’s actually pretty nice. I do wish it had a bit more padding but it does protect my toy and it’s visually attractive. Overall this is an awesome product.

Review Details: I have to be honest. I purchased this plug solely because it’s beautiful. Usually when it comes to sex toys I’m not a stickler about how a toy looks. My main concern is if it'll effectively get me off. As long as it works and isn’t creepy looking (ex. veins on dildos weird me out) I will buy it; looks be damned. However, when it came to this plug function was the last thing on my mind. It just looked so gorgeous. I mean, I have several glass plugs; one with a similar shape even. I honestly didn’t really need this. But that crystal. Apparently I’m a sucker for pretty, pretty things. I saw it in a YouTube video (the pictures here don’t do it justice) and instantly understood that I had to have it. It’s ironic really because I’m not a big jewelry person, and definitely don't wear crystal or diamond jewelry.

However, I saw this and was convinced that my ass deserved jewels. It clearly needed bedazzling and I’m so glad I bought it because I love it. Stunning really is the word. The clarity and depth of the crystal is breathtaking. There’s a kaleidoscope of colors and if you turn it just right it can also look almost frosted over with a silver white color. It’s awesome. And the glass itself is so clear. I can definitely see the difference in the quality of craftsmanship in this toy vs. some of my lower end glass pieces. Plus, and lucky for me since I barely took functionality into consideration, it’s actually really comfortable. I love the length of this plug. That small bulb and longer neck combination fits my body perfectly. This is literally the only plug I own (and I have several) that I can lay down in and not be at all uncomfortable. For some reason with other plugs I always feel a pinching sensation when I lay down. And considering I usually masturbate laying down, that can be a problem. With this plug though there was no internal discomfort, which really surprised me.

Now, in my actual masturbation session, I was glad to see that the base didn’t get in the way of my dildo. The base is a bit chunky and I thought it would be a hindrance for vaginal penetration but it totally wasn’t. In fact because of the internal placement of this bulb I found it to be the most effective of my plugs for actually increasing my pleasure. Even though it is the smallest plug I now own, its positioning pushed my dildo in to my G-spot and made it way more effective than it had previously been. I’m extremely happy with its functionality.

I will say though that there were a few down sides to this plug. One is that the chunkiness of the base made it a bit heavy. And considering the bulb of the plug was so small it wasn’t really a balanced weight. It produced a constant tugging sensation when I walked that I could have live without. I think that if they could make the base a bit thinner, which may or may not be possible because of the crystal, it would improve the product a lot. Furthermore, it would be nice if the crystal could take up more surface area on the base. The crystal really is the star of the show, so giving it more room to shine would be beneficial.

Lastly, as was mentioned above, because the head is short your body doesn’t have time to adjust to the size transition. I didn’t think that would be a big deal because it isn’t a girthy plug. However, when it came time to remove it, it stung and the sting reverberated. The shortness just didn’t allow me to remove the bulb slow enough. So in order to avoid pain I’ll have to find alternative strategies for removal. Aside from those things though I loved this plug. It’s gorgeous and, for me, functionally better than most. I highly recommend.
